I want to be able to view all my videos (Films and TV Programmes) from my desktop downstairs upstairs on my lounge TV.
I have been told to do this cheaply I can use Windows Medi Center and a Linksys Media Streamer (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142183) and those plug in mains ethernet boxes.

1. Is this a good way of doing this?
2. I have Windows XP Home. Am I right in thinking I would either need to change operating system to Windows XP Media Center (2005) or upgrade to Vista Premium or Ultimate. Can't get it as a add on to XP Home?.

I really like the look fo Mediabrowser (http://www.avforums.com/forums/home-cinema-pcs/938625-mediabrowser-running-customised-vmc.html) which I believe is add on for the media center but can only be used for the Vista version.

Thank you for any help or advice.

    Hi OP,

In order to use Windows Media Center and an extender, you would need to upgrade to an operating system that includes it, as you say.

Do you, by any chance, have an Xbox 360? It's not too difficult to set it up so your Xbox can stream media to your TV from your PC. If you don't have one, you could spend a few pounds on an original Xbox and mod it to run XBMC (Xbox Media Center) and this will then do the same thing.
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.
