Incompetent Virgin Media Service

Last month we discovered that we didn't have a working phone line, they eventually fixed the problem and promised us a £4.50 rebate for the time we didnt have a working phone line.
We've just had our virgin media bill (we have a 3 product package)
Instead of giving us a credit for it they have charged us a "Goodwill Gesture" of £4.50. I can't believe the incompetence.
So now we will have to pay the overcharged bill and wait for a credit back next month.
I havent spoken to them yet, I want to calm down first.
It is disgusting that we have to pay for their mistake and wait for our money back (Money that we havent budgeted for)
Has anyone had this problem with them before? DId you manage to get compensation on the account for all the inconveince.
I'm starting to think it is worthwhile paying BT to install a line so we can use SKY even if it does cost us more
