Hi Ally58
Citibank are not the fastest in the world when it comes to replying to individuals.
I opened my account in December 06, and waited an age for things to happen, had to send in my £1 cheque for ID etc, then got my new card just before Christmas, took nearly all of December I think for it all to happen.
Didn't get a 3-1 card to begin with, in May 07 asked for a 3-1 card and was given one, but still couldn't get an overdraft of £500, despite salary going in.
Last week after two and a half years, and a strong letter of complaint, I did actually get the overdraft, as stated in their account ts and cs.
If you have not already applied, then I think you should apply for the account, as it is quite user friendly, the lack of branches makes no difference really, but if you have applied, I hope you hear soon to some favorable news.0 -

Same question, has anyone else had any dealings with Citbank re opening an account? I got two forms to sign, one was a credit agreemant for the credit card and the other was a declaration with some details on it. The covering letter said I was provisionally approved, awaiting receipt of the above documents. Does this mean my account will be opened? Will they always ask for a cheque to prove I.D.? I don't have a cheque book
Ally58, how long ago did you apply? any news yet? did they ask you to send a cheque?0 -

Hiya
Citi are unique in that they actually send forms and credit check you later - that said, just getting the forms doesn't guarantee acceptance. So send them off by all means but you don't have the accounts yet. In fact, nothing has happened - no searches, nada!
Basically you are pre approved cos you meet their criteria, this isn't including any credit score/search as it is done upon a signature, i.e. on the forms you will send back.
Cheque is their way to prove you exist and have full banking elsewhere.2010 - year of the troll

I opened a Dollar account with them, and had the debit card in a week and a half. Better than a similar expreience with Abbey, by weeks.0
