International bank transfer problem! (need help!)

Hello...

A friend has recently sent me an international bank transfer from France (his country) to the UK (my country).

However, after 3days of no deposit I began wondering why it hadn't arrived and I've come to a possible problem.

An IBAN code SHOULD look like this from what I've read:

IBAN + SORTCODE + ACCNTNUMBER

However, I gave him it in this order:

IBAN + ACCNTNUMBER + SORTCODE




Since I have gave my friend the IBAN code in the wrong order, will this have screwed up the payment? The funds from his bank account have already been taken...

How do I go about correcting this? Who do I contact and what do I say? How long will it take to rectify this?

    If it is wrong it should be refunded to the original account, tell your friend to check his with bank, and next time this is the wrong board for this lol x

    The likelihood is that the money will be returned to the bank in France as the details are wrong.
    To clarify and international transfer from France should be an alphanumeric IBAN number(within that IBAN number is your account number and sort code together with bank identifier codes). Your friend has one of two options: (a) ask his bank to send a swift message to Barclays to get them to correct the details or (b) to get his bank to do a trace on the payment if it hasn't been returned.
