International Bank Transfer problem (need help!)

Hello...
A friend has recently sent me an international bank transfer from France (his country) to the UK (my country).
However, after 3days of no deposit I began wondering why it hadn't arrived and I've come to a possible problem.
An IBAN code SHOULD look like this from what I've read:
IBAN + SORTCODE + ACCNTNUMBER
However, I gave him it in this order:
IBAN + ACCNTNUMBER + SORTCODE
Since I have gave my friend the IBAN code in the wrong order, will this have screwed up the payment? The funds from his bank account have already been taken...
How do I go about correcting this? Who do I contact and what do I say? How long will it take to rectify this?
Thanks for any help you can provide - I appreciate it very much so.

There is nothing you can do, your friend will have to contact their bank who will be able to trace the payment and get it deposited into your account correctly. It could take atleast a week to sort out though.0 -
I'm confused by what you say.... The sortcode/account number are part of the IBAN itself (22 characters). You shouldn't be adding them yourself, because characters 3-4 are a checksum which are based on the rest of the value.0

As agnsu says, the Bank, Sort Code and Account number are incorporated in the IBAN - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Bank_Account_NumberUnited Kingdom (22) IBAN format: GBkk BBBB SSSS SSCC CCCC CC
B = alphabetical bank code, S = sort code (often a specific branch), C = account No.0 -
Indeed - an IBAN uniquely identifies a bank account within Europe, with no other information. That's the whole point of the system. You don't need anything else.0

Sorry I wasn't very clear.
The IBAN starts with 8 letters/numbers.. These are:
GB46 CPBK
I gave my friend it in this order:
GB46 CPBK + accountnumber + sortcode
When the correct order is:
GB46 CPBK + sortcode + accountnumber
So I gave my IBAN code in the wrong way... What should I do to try and correct this situation?0 -
As your friend is the originator of the transfer, I suspect that only he/she can attempt to rectify the situation by contacting the institution which he/she used to transfer the funds and providing the correct IBAN details.0

The 46 is a check digit. I.E. if your sort code is 000000 and your account number is 11111111, and your bank code is CPBK, then your IBAN is GBkkCPBK00000011111111 where kk is calculated from the rest of the number (GBCPBK00000011111111). If, for your sort code and account number, this is 46, then the full IBAN would be GB46CPBK00000011111111.
However, GB46CPBK11111111000000 would be incorrect, as 46 would not be the correct check digits for GBCPBK11111111000000. The paying bank should have noticed this and rejected the payment instruction.0
