Thats is worrying indeed. Why would he target me though?

dunno - lots of weirdos message people on the off-chance of getting to your profile and using what's there for identity fraud. As deity said, he may not have seen your photos but if he was trawling other people's public profiles and came along a wall post you made or comments others posted about your photos then it's not hard to figure out. I know my friends are stupid enough to put their profiles as public and state their dob, where they live, where they work, phone number etc. Then they go posting onto other people's walls about every detail of their travel plans(easy pickings for robberies perhaps?), date of birth of their kids (which people use as memorable dates!), and joined every app there is - just to increase the chances of more people getting to their details! More fool to me though for keeping them on my friends list! :o

I wouldn't panic as yet though - see what the moderators have to say. But definately keep personal info to a minimum.

Just delete it, and ignore, plenty of strange people out there.

Recheck all your security settings, I setup a separate friends list (Click friends, then add to a list) of people who are my absolutely closest friends and restrict them from all my details and albums, so they can only see the most basic profile. But I also don't upload any key photos, I keep these on my own website which has secure accounts and passwords for all friends and family.

Yeah, I can see the whole albums of people I don't know when one of my friends is tagged in one single picture, or if they are uploaded to a group that I can access. I often look through random peoples ski-ing holiday photos to check out resorts, I've gotta admit!

Theres also an application available on the web that searchs through facebook pics, not sure if it just displays the pic or the pic and further details (eg tagged names) as I've never used it!
  • It makes you laugh how many people using facebook have absolutely no common sense. I have friends who post every detail about them onto their profile, address phone numbers, where they work everything, kids names of kids pictures, the lot. Which is why I never upload pics of my kids onto facebook also I give very little details out on my profile, which is kept private anyway and never talk about my kids on there either, there are that many predators that use social networking sites to slowly build a profile of you and then steal your details for identity fraud or for snatching your kids etc. Personally I would ignore the message and just warn all your friends about this person in case they have him on their freinds list or add him to thier friends list.
