Im being absolutely deadly serious about it being just the way i described. They orchestrated it to be like this saying that Asda was a family orientated company and that you will be treated as such should you get the job.
Our castle was not that bad lol made about two layers of balloons selotaped together, but could have been more creative with it. Good thing was that they said we could take the balloons away at the end, but nobody did.
Unfortunately i didn't get the job, there was like 15 candidates on that day, and some had done a better job so well done to them and im sure they will be having a good time now.Hello there0 -
Just got back from my group interview, we had to do the same thing with Balloons too. Also had to introduce the person next to us, and also had to a staff/customer role thing talking about a product to the others in the groups.
Its so hard to say if it went well haha. Just have to wait and see and should hear within a week if we get to the 1-2-1 interviewsMake £10 a day Challenge June - £1700 -

They said the 2nd interview would be the 1-2-1 one. and i need to bring in my ID like Passport (For proof to work in the UK etc) Then they will show you what its like working on the department i want to work on (I applied for checkouts)Make £10 a day Challenge June - £1700 -
I went for an interview many years ago. We were put in pairs and had to interview eachother and then stand up and tell everyone about the other person. We were then split into groups and had to act out an advert for washing powder.
I'm very shy and was very quiet so didn't get the job.0 -

Yeah Asda tend to go for non shy people as they want their staff to interact with the customers. I worked at Asda for 1.5 years whilst at Uni.
My group interview was just like the others described - except I didn't have to make a castle. I was quite lucky as I knew 2 other people who went to the interview (my housemates boyf and a girl who lived in my previous halls of residence!). I remember one question - if you were an animal what would you be...0 -
I don't do well at group interviews, I had one at waitrose, just because I am shy at a group interview, doens' tmean I wlil be shy interacting one to one with customers. I just dont do well presenting in a group, so I htink many competent people like myself fail to get jobs they would do well in0

I hate these type of interviews. Complete rubbish really. Its all this overly 'bubbly' ,bordering on fake, personality. But anyway, I am applying because I need a job.
What have you lot worn for these first stage group interviews?
I am a man by the way. Well, a boy at least.0 -
I agree, its like one big kiss !!! session, it is really demeaning, because everyone can obviously do the job.
Thats hwy I prefer one on one interviews0
