I am looking for toys for my soon to be 1 year old but don't know what to get him, he is just starting to crawl and would like toys that encourage him to get moving and for learning. I am at a loss as to what to get, any ideas?

we got ours a lovely inflatable rolling thing (can't remember what is is called but from ELC), it had rattles etc in, and encouraged them to crawl after it as they pushed it - was not expensive under £10 if I remember
also https://www.thingimijigs.co.uk have personalised singing CDs that are great for sound recognition, my two kids (now 4 and 3) got theirs only recently and love hearing their name sung0 -
just remembered we got the Ellie a sit in Smoby car, which has only jsut gone away, great as you can take the floor out when they are bigger, instant cool appeal walking them to the shops, (about £25 ish from Argos)0

There are quite a lot of walkers you can get which have detachable learning parts on the front of them. Here's one of the many

My little boy got quite a few wooden jigsaws for his first birthday and gets on really well with those...you can get them for less than £2 in Asda.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Been on elc and can't find that rolling toy maybe they stopped doing it. I think i'll get him a ride in car as he would like that, i got him the first steps walker when he was 8 months for his christmas, never been used yet!0

I always found a good old fashioned wooden push along cart with wooden blocks was a good incentive0

over a combination of xmas and birthday we got the wooden push along as mentioned above from ELC and the wooden trike with trailer from there, both getting plenty of use now (also a car/ride on for outside probably a reasonable idea as the weather picks up shortly)0

I think this is what you want? my boy always had his around and never used it to crawl around on, he only liked to bang it to make the balls inside it jingle!

Why not a computer? My 14mth old grandaugher absolutely loves playing with the buttons on her mums computer  she especially likes it when she presses the big silver button right in the middle
and Mum jumps up and stamps her feet and shakes her head and does a little dance  :rotfl:
But seriously she loves a toy not sure what its called but it has a little mat in front of it and when she steps on the mat it plays a tune ( several different ones) and she boogies away to her hearts content.....helps with her balance and coordination and she sure is a good little dancer :T :T#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

You can get one of the inflatable rolly things here for £3 not inc P&P, they also do a Thomas the Tank one for £2. You can also get the Smoby babymobile car for £15, it's about £30 in Toys R Us etc.
Some people don't like this website but I've bought loads of things from them and never had any problems. They did forget to put something in my order once but I emailed them and it was delivered the next day.:smileyhea0
