When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free;)
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Good Morning everyone
Today I will:
Have a good day everyone, it's grey and miserable here but hopefully will clear up later.
Sending hugs to anyone feeling down or poorly, hope you feel better soon.

Morning SM and Candy....nice to 'see' you both back;):D
Hooray, we're halfway through the week.....goodness, I spend my life looking forward to weekends:o:rotfl:
Good news for me - I got the place on the Foundation degree i wanted - the course is Education Studies for Teaching Assistanst, I start in Sept:beer: I'm probably mad....loads of work, single mum, wrong side of 30, but hey - got to have a go!!!!:D
But...I'm a bit worried as I studied for 2 years when I was 18, never completed the degree, and am worried now that it'll affect the funding I get now. So I'll ring Student Finance and see where I stand. I do have a well-off father I haven't seen for years who has offered to help out so I won't have to not do the course if that makes sense
Anyway, quick list for today......- check banking....ok, and moved £100 Paypal money to savings
- daily scratch
- lunches to work
- meal from plan - chicken out of freezer for pasta bake
- friend driving to work, saves my car;)
- get girls passport pics done to renew their passports - not dfw, but what a waste of the holiday if I don't get passports:rotfl:
I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -

wo hoo well done milly!!
forgot to add somethinglast night as on one of the posts someone mentioned cystitis and everyone was saying to drink cranberry juice!! just thought i would add some expertiise (doesnt happen very often!!! lol) but once you have cystits there is no point drinking cranberry juice as you need to drink vast amounts for it to help, however if you drink some cranberry juice everyday then that should prevent cystitis!!!! just some pearls of wisdom!!!
have a great day everyone

Morning SM, Milly and Debs :j
(and all who follow or pip me at the post)
Hope you have got over the shock of your accident a bit SM, Congratulations Milly, and Debs - I read your post too quickly and mistook 'cystitis' for 'cyclist' and wondered how cranberry juice could possibly help
:rotfl:
Today I have / will:
Check online banking (done)
See to animals and plants - none done as yet - I have stopped rushing downstairs wet from the shower to feed fat, noisy ginger cat, after discovering that OH has already fed him and he has eaten it all and come to pester me for a second helping :rotfl:
Take whoopsied 50p tuna salad to work for lunch - don't normally buy such things, but will at 50p
Left over curry for supper
Whizz around and do a little bit of housework - seriously short of time this week, but a little bit is better than none! I have already dusted the furniture in the bedroom :A
Manic at work again today, but I am hoping, just hoping, that from next week things should start to calm down just a little
Have a nice day everyone :hello:0 -

First post for a while as well. Just been extra busy recently. I need to visit this thread because even though I am now debt free my wife and I are saving like crazy and I find loads of inspiration here from some great posters.
Today
Showered using hotel shower gel from a previous holiday.
Central heating off.
Drove responsibly. Can't help but marvel about these people who can do the ton on the motorway without a thought for cost or danger.
Free tea at work.
Walk at lunchtime. It's free.
Overtime tonight. Free tea and biscuits.
No spend day.
Home made sandwiches for lunch.
Another day with my old shoes. Really need replacing but it's dry today so they'll last another day.
Don't have to buy a newspaper. Quick look at BBC News on work internet.
Check bank balance.
Check savings balances. What a treat that is after a hard road out of debt!! Definitely top of my to do list. Some interest due today.
Inspire myself to think of at least one thing that has helped me on my debt free journey.
Well, that's it for today. Have a great day everyone.0 -
Hi people, this is the first time I have actually ever posted on a message board, let alone this specific one, so if my comments aren't relevant it wuld be great if you could shift me to the right place.......:D
My £6053 loan is due to be paid off in one fell swoop this weekend. Myself and my ex had 12 months left to pay, initially, stumping up £495 each month between us, religiously and without error or lateness. However, things went a bit pear shaped, she consulted members of my family about the debt and as a result, the lot of them have conspired to 'sort the debt out'.
Now, this may sound good, but my one great achievement was that I was able to pay this debt off each and every month without fail. It hasn't gone..... I'll be paying the family member back the same amount, just without the pressure of them being a bank and therefore administering charges, but the rest of my finances are a mess........ I owe two months rent, I have defaulted over this years council tax already and have a £250+ store card that is hanging over my head, along with unpaid mobile, landline gas and electric bills. Oh, and the TV license DD came back unpaid. I was in a reasonably well paid job until I took voluntary redundancy and although I have a job again now after about 6 weeks out of work, I have taken about a £4000 a year pay cut moving to this new job.
I am desperate for a change, I am sick of incurring bank charges and I just want to be on an even keel........ Can anyone help?
