My laptop is taking forever to log on.
From pressing the on button to windows fully loading is taking approx 7 minutes
the system has a 1.1ghz AMD Athlon processor, 256Mb RAM and 20GB HDD with only Windows on it. I was hoping to wipe the system and load Linux Puppy or Qimo onto it as I want to give it to my daughter.
Can anyone suggest how to speed upthe log on.

Why log in when you are going to wipe/delete the disk. Just run the new application / OS installer and it will clear ALL for you, including any data on it, so be warned.0
