How many bank accounts?

Is it a good idea to keep differing bank accounts with the same bank or use different banks?
I like to have separate pots of money for savings, car expenses etc and not sure whether to use different banks or not. Can anyone advise please

I've got a few accounts with different banks. Let me take advantage of each others offers and services

Put your money where the best rates are. I have a double figure amount of current accounts, it costs you nothing to hold them and as Andy says it makes it very easy to pick up different offers0

as above, shop around and do not be loyal to any bank.0

There's no right or wrong. Whatever is right for you.
Personally I have a current account with the institution I work for (in part as I have to), an A&L account that pays me 6%, a Barclays account that I have mystery shoppin/Quidco cash paid into and I'm just opening a HSBC account for £20 cashback. I'll likely switch a few things to that and close the Barclays one as that has served its purpose.0 -
A tip: if youve got loads of different accounts, use https://moneycenter.yodlee.com to keep track of them all. Excellent little service

I have 4!
1 for household bills
1 for personal bills
1 for shopping online
1 for general spending
I personally dont think any bank only limits you to one account with them unless I am missing something, lol but I havent been to all banks to know whether this is the case, just my opinion'Sometimes you just need to keep your mouth shut':j0 -
