Great British Beer Festival- Query???

Hi,

Has anyone ever been to the great British Beer Festival? I am considering going this year but wonder-
a) what does my £8 ticket fee get me?
b) how much is each tasting/half pint/pint.??

The GBBF is a great day out. For you entrance fee you get your GBBF glass marked to show 1/3, 1/2, and full pint measures. Prices were reasonable last year. If you're into ale this is the place to be, all ages and sexes, not just beardy old geezers. Check out the Camra website for details.,

£8 gets you in the door, access to the bars and also to the entertainment (generally pretty good).

You pay a deposit on a souvenir glass (pint/half/third) which either gets refunded when you leave or you keep the glass - string hint: keep hold of your glass - there are thieves who go round looking for stray glasses to claim refunds on - if you lose it CAMRA will NOT refund you!

UK beers cost approx £2-3 per pint, proportional for smaller measures, dependent on strength. Cider/perry about the same, foreign beers dearer.

My tip: get a pint glass and drink halfs or thirds pints are marked for these measures) you often get some VERY big halfs!!! (I should know, I've volunteered to work the bar at GBBF for the last five years:beer:)
A further tip: Swerve Friday night (absolutely jam packed) and think hard about Saturday afternoon (not unknown for many beers to run out)

Some beers run out on the Tuesday night. First year I went there were about 6 I had bookmarked which had gone already..

Not necessarily true. Not all beers are on from the start, some come on each day through the Festival - deliberately intended to reward those, and there are some, who attend evry day of the Festival (poor, poor liver!!!). Of course, if you were aiming for the newly chosen award winning beers.........
