Ikea Blinds

I am moving into a new flat shortly and am going to opt for blinds instead of curtains. The windows are quite large and I can't afford to get bespoke blinds.

I have noticed online that Ikea blinds are quite reasonably priced. Does anybody have any experience of buying blinds from Ikea and know if they are any good?

Thanks in advance

We have used them inside our bay windows ( Victorian House) with Voiles (spelling?) across the windows so the blinds are behind the nets, and they are doing well. Ikea seem to have improved their blinds in the last couple of years as the last set we bought are much better quality and the "pulleys" are much smoother.

I would go there again if we needed more

We put some up in our first flat in 2000. If you look on streetview, they're still there - so yeah, they last! We've had them in every house.

I like them as they are good and long, with a large sash window I have two small ones on the one window and it works fine.

I found only Ikea's blinds could give the drop I needed - many of my windows needed a 180 cm drop, stores like Homebase and Dunelm Mill may have a better choice of colours, but may only provide a drop of 140 or 160 cm. Make sure you blind has another 5 or 10 cm more than you need. I originally had a blind from Dunelm Mill that was exactly the drop of a window, but when the radiator came on the glue loosened up and it dropped off the pole. The Ikea blind is longer so is tightly wrapped on the pole - even when warmed up.
  • When I need to buy blinds I always look for them online as that helps me to save a good deal of money. The blinds which are available on internet are quite affordable and of superior quality compared to the ones which you purchase from the stores.
