Hi all, this is a really interesting thread, sharronloves2spend, your pics are really great:T Just to through a bit of controversy in here, I don't think a capsule wardrobe works for everyone, I tried this a few years ago and just landed up being really bored after a couple of months, my way round this was to choose a style that I believe suits me, choose colours that suit me and stick to pieces in those ranges but not on a capsule basis, I like to mix it about and have lots of choice, I do have a winter wardrobe and a summer wardrobe that I swap around appropriately, this might sound like it costs a lot but because I have a particular style clothes last for years and because I haven't seen them for a while they feel like new when I get them out again. I get rid of any pieces that don't fit or are just too old. I do also have a few designer bits, in classic styles, that I have kept for years and dig out when necessary. The thought of just 2 or 3 bags and a few pairs of shoes actually scares me:eek:, everything I have I like and I am defiantly not a hoarder, I donate stuff regularly to my local clothes bank but I do replace them when I see something I like, I also enjoy shopping, especially for the latest trends and I always find stuff I like in sales especially underwear as I am an odd bra size. Sorry guys but for me its the more the merrier:DThank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Love the idea of a capsule wardrobe and have watched a few of Goks shows and longed after a good wardrobe of good fitting clothes and matching accessories. I am rubbish at putting stuff together. But seem to be doing much better now i am pregnant, OH has even commented that i have looked good (admittidley this was during the hot weather, when i worse a few dresses / skirts). I have 3 pairs of Maternity Jeans, 1 combats long, 1 cobats cut off, 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair leggings, 3 white tops, 2 other maternity tops and 1 maternity dress and 3 cardigans. Whilst having a well needed clear out two weeks ago, i found numerous long tops that look good with leggins and i can still fit over my bump and also two dresses, one long, one knee length and one stretchy skirt that will accomodate bump for a few more weeks.
Have no idea what i will wear, if and when baby is born in September and i hopefully get back my size 8 petite figure. (may be living in a dream world, but i did manage it 5 years ago after having DS:rolleyes:).
I am actually finding it easier to dress in a morning, with not having lots of choice. Will have to buy some key pieces once bubs arrives and try and stick to the capsule wardrobe idea.0 -
Glowgirl, on one of my earlier postings on oldstyle, i did say that i know this kinda thing is not for everybody. It's perfect for me as i am minimilst. Sometimes i do get bored and will replace an item, not add to it. So it's a one in one out thing. I also jazz things up with accessories. But my basics rarely change. Jeans, black well cut trousers, leggins etc. I do own more than two pairs of shoes, they just don't really 'fit in' with the rest of my wardrobe. Totally respect what your saying, and i really do enjoy shopping for the latest trend too, just i am more organized about it now. I never want to get to the point(as i did a couple of years ago) where i feel so totally overwhelmed by the size of my wardrobe.

You seem to have more trouser and skirt/dress choices that I do so I think I already have a capsule wardrobe without trying as I have limited stuff I can wear. Rest that I cant fit into any longer is definitely all going to charity - apart from some special going out stuff. I agree with the winter and summer wardrobe as I put the warmer stuff away and vice versa if it has survived the season.0

Keep thinking about this, having almost cleared my wardrobe, will finish tonight, my priority is my holiday in 10days, so my thoughts are on my holiday capsule wardrobe , restrained by my 15kg luggage allowance!

I wonder when I will get my wardrobe as organised as yours Sharon? My wardrobe is capsule but with a few bits and bobs that don't fit into the capsule because of the colours i.e the dress that I am wearing today which has red and beige flowers. My winter capsule wardrobe needs work. Also my capsule summer colours are probably a bit safe for some people white, navy and some aqua and bright blue. I do admire how you pull of the pink, grey, purple and still manage to have everything matching. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30

Your wardrobe looks fab Sharon, well done! Wish I could do it but I am too bad for just buying things that look good on, and not neccesarily buying to match the rest of the clothes I already have... thats the problem with buying outfits in one go I suppose, you pick what matches but don't think about the stuff you've already got.
Also I have far, far too many shoes - they don;t fit in my house, I keep loads in the car and have a wardrobe full of them at my mums house - I have to rotate them every so often so I get to wear them all!
xxThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -
eyeonspain, my winter capsule needs some work too, will sort this out after my hols in september. We'll start another thread then. Your capsule sound perfect for you, i'm sure your summer garments get far more wear than mine.
Just being nosy but where about in the uk did you work for next??? I was in the liverpool store, i hated it, not the clothes obviously, it was the bl00dy customers!!
Bron, my white cardi was from primark, only about a fiver, had lots of wear so far but quality ain't great. I am going to wear it out for this summer, then next spring invest in one. The Ralph Lauren shop in cheshire oaks had some lovely ones, may take a look there in early spring. Your holiday sound fab by the way, can't wait to go on mine, escape this british weather and drink, eat and be merry!!!!
