Cleaning material on dining room chairs?

Hello, I have looked at the cleaning thread in the mega index and I can't seem to find anything but if it's there somebody can direct me.
I have a wooden table with 6 chairs. On the seat is cream upholstrery (material with shiny satin cream thread running through it). When I bought it years ago I got them to scotch guard them. We only use this setting for *good* as we have a smaller one for everyday use. I have noticed it has small light black specks on it very similar to mildew
and the cream is looking a bit dusty/dirty. I would like to clean it & I am going to make chair covers to protect it this time.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to clean them up. I have no problems getting them to dry :pi f I use a water solution. I will just put them out in the sun for a few days.
Thanks in advance.
