Laptop power adapter bought but need some help

I bought a laptop power adapter from nec cables as linked to in post 4 of this thread but for some reason i cnat get the laptop to turn on when im using the correct plug, im using the plug that this page recommends,

the laptop is an acer travelmate 3273, ive tried some of the other connectors but its still the same

anyone able to offer any help or advice
