Has anyone exchanged recently using Metropolitans 'My Choice Home Buy' Scheme?

Hi,
My partner and I have been buying a house through the Metropolitan My choice home buy scheme and it is turning out to be a nightmare.
Firstly, once we found our property we waited 8 weeks to hear back from them to accept us and our property on the scheme.
Now we have to get our mortgage and our Survey done.
We went ahead and did these and now we have to send them the survey and the mortgage offer and any estimates for any urgent work needing doing on the property.
They have told us once they get these bits of paper work it will take them up to 12 weeks to reply to us so we can exchange!!!!!
The vendor is getting fed up and they want to put the house back on the market!
Has anyone had a similar experience with Metropolitan and managed to get their house?
Any one have any advice for us on how to keep the vendor from bailing on us?
Advice gratefully received!

Hi,
I haven't had any experience with Metropolitan, but I am currently going through the same process with Key Homes East (East Anglian scheme). We got written approval for our funding, around the beginning of May and it's take about 4 weeks so far to get the paperwork/surveys sorted - we're hoping to exchange contracts/complete in the next 1-3 weeks (fingers crossed...I still won't believe it until it happens!)
Good luck!

Thanks for that - I wish we had gone with another group! Sounds like Key Homes East have a very organized and responsive office!0

Don't worry; I don't think anyone has had a good experience with any of the schemes (my sympathies are definitely with you) - Key Homes East were far from organised and responsive (just do a search on this forum for Key Homes East and you'll see how many people were unhappy with them); we had to send in a complaint and nearly lost the house we're buying! :-( That said; since we've been approved, they have been quite good (touch wood).0

Oh well done - so it has been worth all the agony for you. I was going to look for my Local MP's details today ... I must get on and find that tonight! I will write to her and have good ole moan!
Any other Metropolitan registered first time my choice homebuyers out there? Let me know if you are any further a head than we are!0 -
Yes; it's definitely been worth the agony - so keep complaining and fighting for what you were promised at the outset (if nothing else; we should at least expect good communication from the government agencies). Good luck; I hope it works out for you :-))0

Hi I am trying to buy a house through metropoliton, and am experiencing exactly the same problems! I waited 5 weeks to have property approved, and the vendor got so angry that she put it back on the market, thankfully the letter finally came through before anyone viewed it. But then came the bad news, on the letter it said it would take them 16 weeks, how can I tell the vendor this she will just pull out. I know I would! I can't believe they think that people can buy properties like this, it is ridiculous. I also have had my survey back and the guy has been ridiculously cautious, and so I am now going to have to have loads of estimates for work supposedly needed to be done. I am reaching the point of give up, as I don't really want to through more of my savings away when there is a good chance the vendor will have enough and pull out. Nightmare0
