Installing limestone fireplace surround.

We have bought a gas fire package with limestone surround. The gas man is going to fit the fire, and our builder will fit the surround. I am just wondering how the limestone surround will attach to the wall? Are they normally attached with brackets?? (I don't think ours came with any). I know that you have to seal the limestone once it has been fitted (and we have the special sealer) but do we have to be aware of anything else before/during fitting?
many thanks.
