Tough I might start a thread for Haven - or any park come to that - owners and renter to give views on the ups and downs, pitfalls and recommendations of owning a static caravan, subletting or even renting.

We are about to buy one at Presthaven Sands in Wales. We visited the park and it is really lovely, saw a great caravan and a brilliant plot. we are really excited about it but

and theres always a but isnt there - today we received a call to say that storage bins and small sheds arent allowed anymore. And we havent moved in it yet.
So what do you do with your table and chairs and other stuff. we were hoping to sublet and store our personal stuff in one for a start. waiting for a call back about it.

Hope they dont start this 'see what we can get out of them' lark - we've been offered a full size fridgefreezer at an extra price of course.

Anyway apart from that are there any raves or downs people want to let other members know about?

or events coming up that can be recommended?

make sure you get EVERY offer in writing from them. I live on a haven park and i know how caravan sales lie to get a deal on.
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

I haven't had any experiences myself i just live on a park. My partner works here and i'm going off things he's told me about how they promise the earth to get a sale closed and then don't deliver. Things like promising a free veranda etc when they know that it is a chargeable extra and that the gm won't authorise it. just be careful and get things in writing so you are covered is my advice. The salespeople earn a lot of commission for selling a caravan so they can sometimes resort to lying to get a sale Other than that enjoy your caravan ownership!:D
have you got any kids? if so the clubs are great fun on a night, if not then steer clear as they can be quite expensive.

You are no doubt right. A lot of sales people only care about commission so yo have to be careful.

Anyone got experience of subletting at all?

I use gocaravanrentals.com to book holidays but there are quite a few more
