Using sky card in another box stopped working

My son has got a sky box in his room at the end of last year and he used the card from the sky box down stairs when he wanted to watch something that was not free and it worked fine. Last night when he tried it, it would not work and said that it was the wrong card for the box. Why has it changed, and how can I get it to work again?

Sky want to sell you add-ons. They hook you in and then ask for more money. If you want Sky in more than one room then their contract states you have to pay them a monthly subscription for the privilege.

Workarounds and loopholes get closed. That's the beauty of digital.

£10 a month gives you multiroom, it is 1 card 1 box, as they theoretically have to be paired to the box..

you pair your card to your sons box, it'll stop working downstairs etc.

does he have any card at all, you still get loads of channels on sky without a pay for card, but things like movies, sport etc wouldn't be included..

Cards are now paired with boxes. Simply moving cards won't work anymore.
