I've never had any problems with getting travel insurance with asthma - once I'd gone over a year since having a nebulizer at A&E ;)

I, too, have had a Fortis policy (annual worldwide). Seems to depend who is selling it whether it is economical for pre-exisitng conditions e.g. the version that Swinton sold at the time just had a number of statements and if you could answer "No" to them, you were covered for any conditions without paying extra. However, the one which came "free" with a bank account (think it was Alliance & Leicester but a Fortis policy) had me phoning up and answering all sorts of questions and then wanted an extra £50! I didn't make any claims so can't comment on how they handle them etc.

I've always used the Post Office as they don't charge a premium for pre-existing "repiratory" conditions. I checked and controlled asthma was covered under this so I've used them ever since
