Could anyone explain the word Price Match i wanted to buy a SD Card for my Camera and Tesco had its own brand for £4.something but W H Smith Had the best quality Sandisk For £4.89 So oft i went to W H Smiths and asked for one and the lady said it was twice the price I disagreed with her and showed her the printout with the price on and she said "yes thats on the internet we are always dearer instore"??? but if i ordered it online with store pickup it would have been the lower price? Tesco's said the same and Comet, but Comet didn't have the card in stock.

I've had the same thing happen with PC world so I just went home, ordered what I wanted and picked it up in store. It's mad and I don't know why shops do this.0

because they have rent and higher staffing costs to pay
makes perfect sense
they try and offset the cost by raising prices slightly
they also actually raise online prices slightly too to help offset store rent etc
this is apparent as dixons who are owned by dsgi (currys, pc world) are always around 10% cheaper than their own pc world online stores etcBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
It's understandable why they do it but still frustrating. Game do this too - went to buy something at £34.99 last week and it was £39.99 in-store. I wish online sites would clearly show the in-store price too (some do) to save me a trip.0

i honestly dont see the appeal of buying instore nowadays
not with delivery being quick
prices cheaper
choices greater
and with the extra protection of the distance selling regulations where you can return the item no matter what up to 7 days after deliveryBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Shops don't usually price match against Internet prices (as the overheads of online retailers are generally much lower), and they only match against the same product.0

Don't forget, that is 7 WORKING days starting with the day after delivery, so 10 days inc weekends from day of delivery, or 11 days if the Monday is a bank holiday or could be 12 if Easter, (Good Friday & Easter Monday), or Christmas,(Christmas day & Boxing day);)Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

As I said, I understand it, and no objection to it, just wish they'd make it clear where the price is different online.0 -
....... where the best prices will be from Jersey-based companies and delivery is 4-5 days, and DSR is fairly non-applicable there anyway.
Jersey DSRs, just as applicable as British DSR.
"Businesses that normally sell by distance means and have systems in place for trading this way (for example by having standard letters or emails that they send to consumers they deal with at a distance) need to comply with the Distance Selling (Jersey) Law 2007 that came into force in March 2008."Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
