Renovation Costs - Please help!

Hi there,
I have recently had the opportunity to aquire a two bed victorian terrace which needs total renovation, which a lot of the redecorating, new bathroom, new kitchen etc will be done ourselves. however there is a lot of work which needs doing using other tradesman. but, being new to this, I have no idea how much this would costs or what order it would need to be done!
- complete rewiring
- installation of central heating
- replumbing - including putting in an upstairs toilet and plumbing for a washing machine
- possible replastering

can any one help on the possible costs of this? luckily we wont be living in the house straight away, which I assume would mean some of this work can be done more quickly - but are there any ideas on timescales for this as well?

Thank you very much!

Good morning: Costs will be dependent on where you are the UK and the standard of the specification for each job. Time involved will hinge on organizing the relevant trades, having the DIY side of any works completed when the trades are ready to start, and the scale of renovations required. Some folks have properties renovated in a few months whilst others take years.;) Further advice here.

    Welcome!

Its very difficult for anyone to put any prices on jobs like rewiring without knowing the property or its current condition etc.

As a very rough guide I would think something like.

    rewire - (total) £3-4000
central heating - (from scratch including radiators etc) - £5-6000
replumbing - if its just for new toilet and washing machine - £1-2000
    - everything - £5000

    replastering - £4-500 a room for walls + ceiling.

Like I said they are complete guesses based on my own experience. Best thing to do is get some local tradesmen in and get a real quote. Use people you have used before and trust or get see if you can get some recommendations.
