I want to make Nandos style chicken. Can you help?

I love Nandos chicken. Unfortunately it's a very rare that I get to eat it as we don't have one in my town : (.

Has anyone tried or know how to make chicken as close to Nandos as possible. Hmmm it would be delicious with chips and a salad. Our Tesco has a few Nandos sauces which one is best to use and how do I do it?

Thanks

  • Hi.

Buy the Nandos marinades in the supermarket. The piri piri one isn't very hot, but thats just to me. I love spice. I normally coat the chicken and roast for 90mins. I think that should taste the same :)

For what it is worth, I was in Aldi today and they were selling half chickens in peri-peri sauce for £1.99. I did not buy one as I am still using up my Tesco lamb and Topside, but it looked pretty good particularly for the price.

    Hello,

I've also had a go at making the marinade myself using a combination of the following:

    pickled jalapeno slices
    hot chilli sauce
    lemon juice
    olive oil
    dried chilli flakes
    paprika
    garlic

Just whizzed it all up with my stick blender and coated the chicken in it. Was very tasty, served it with homemade chips, corn on the cob and coleslaw for a homemade nandos as hubby had been fancying nandos for ages. Was lovely :)

We bought some of the Nando's hot marinade just this week. I butterflied 2 large chicken breasts & put them in a dish with a squeeze of lemon juice & a good dollop of the hot marinade. Left it for 20 mins then grilled it & served in pitta breads with loads of salad. It was lovely. I also like marinating chicken breasts (I always butterfly them so they cook evenly under the grill) in a mixture of the Jamaican jerk seasoning spice mixture, a squeeze of lemon, a crushed garlic clove & a tsp olive oil. very nice with spicy couscous or bulgar & salad.
P.S We love Nando's too. We are both following a diet plan at the moment & find that when eating out, there are a few options there that are tasty but that we can have......followed by their fat free fozen yoghurt which you can pay for once then keep topping up for free, like the diet coke!
