Two IP Addresses on Football Manager 2008

Hi,

Basically i have always played Football Manager 2008 as the host no problems. I wanted to connect to the PS3 via Ethernet connection and started swapping the cable over each time to play and turning off modem each time to reset which again worked okay but was just a bit of a pain.

I got tired of doing this and bought a Linksys router. I have conected it up and internet and PS3 both work albeit a bit slowly (Which is another problem) However main prob now is when i play Football Manager 2008 as i'm getting two ip addresses (192.168.1.100 & 81.******) neither of which my mate can connect to.

Any ideas why this is and how i can fix this?

Right. The 192.x.x.x is your internal network IP. The 81.x.x.x (and I would edit your post to hide that!) is your external IP.

Is your mate on the same network (ie, sitting next to you?) or sat at home? If at home he needs to use the external IP.

However you would now need to setup the firewall / port forwarding. The ports *I think* are 10093 and 10094. You need to setup TCP port forwarding to your LOCAL ip address, and then it shall magially work.

When we play in same room i use my laptop with a cross over cable so thats fine its when he's at home and i use my comp is the prob now.

The External IP on FM2008 used to work fine but no longer is and incidently is now different than before and there are two now!

Yes instructions (nice and simple ) would be good.

I also play Fm08 online did you know that you can download a programme called Hamachi that allows you to play through this prog without changing any ports in the router, link provided http://hamachi.en.softonic.com/ if you would like another online player you can pm me.

Does this have to be setup on both machines or can I just set it up on mine as long as i have his IP address?

Every online player requires this programme, its very easy to set up, just install & run the prog, then enter a username. Next to your username you will have a ip address that people connect to. You will be fine.

hi i have the same problem, 1 i.p addresses appear for me on FM 08 and have tried only using the exteranla and internal 1 sepratley n dosent work...pls tell me what to do n how to do it
