Could you please(i would be very thankful) give your opinion on what I should do!!!!

Hi, first of all let me say thanks for clicking.:T

I'm 21, and I used to be in about £5k worth of debt. I had an overdraft with Natwest of £1000, and a while ago, I went overdrawn over the original overdraft. Because I was being charge £28 a month, plus interest aswell, the figure kept rising all the way up to -£1332. Eventually I got my act together, and decided debt wasn't for me. So I rang Natwest up, and spoke to them, and they, as a goodwill gesture, decided they would knock 4 charges off (£112), and cancel any more charges or interest in the future, if, I paid £1220. So i did. It was great, my ballance was a gleaming £0.00.

Anyway, I decided not to use the account, but wanted to leave it open because i've had it since I was 16, but instead i decided to cancel the overdraft. Woooooopeeeeeee.:A

This is where I need your advise...............

About 2 weeks after paying the debt off, I checked my online banking. I was sadenned to see my ballance was -£11.74 , with the word INTEREST. Rather angry I went straight to the main city centre branch, and told them they've made a mistake, and to give me my money back. I spoke to a lady, who told me she couldn't refund charges in the branch, and to ring the number I had rang when paying the debt off. I wasn't very happy with what she said, because I have had a charge revoked before 'in the same branch' because of their mistakes, and decided to tell her this. She again told me to ring the number, and they will sort it out. So i went home, and decided to make PHONE CALL NUMBER 1.

I got through to a gentleman, who apologised to me, and said everything was their fault. He told me he would cancel the £28 charge that had been triggered by going overdrawn, and that he would refund the £11.74, but it would take upto 48 hours to show on my ballance.

Anyway I leave it a couple of days, and check my ballance. Still -£11.74:confused:. I decided to give it time and leave it another 2 days. Anyway 2 days later, Wednesday, I have to make PHONE CALL NUMBER 2:eek:.................... I get through to a lady who again apologised to me, and explained that the money will be in by no later than Saturday morning. I question why so long, and she didn't give much of a reply if you know what I mean.

Anyway, Thursday, the next day, I log onto my online banking, and in disgust I see my ballance is now -£20.85:rotfl:. Another stupid INTEREST charge of £9.11. At this point I was as angry as Mike Tyson in a boxing ring, and rang these fools up again. Again I get through to a lady, who knows instantly, I aint happy with whats happened, and she really apologised to me, but again says, the money will be in no later than Saturday morning.

Well that was Thursday evening folks.

I used to be a wild child, but now, even things like dialling an 0845 number seem to be a big hate of mine all of a sudden, and I had to ring them 3 times. I'm sick to death of the whole situation. I just want the money back in, and no more charges. Are they damaging my credit rating? Well whats left of it, but I'm trying to improve it. I hate debt, and know the only debt I will ever get again, are the bare necessities in life.

I'm going into the same branch tomorrow, to sort this whole farce out face to face.

I kinda know what to say, but I just want some facts...........

Can they refund charges in the branch still?
Why does it take 48 hours to change a ballance of a Natwest account, BY NATWEST, EVEN THOUGH IT NEVER APPEARS.;)

Am i been stupid, and are they using shaddow money, that is invisible to the naked eye.:p

Thank you for reading, much appreciated, your opinion on what I should do would be superb if thats okay.
THANKS AGAINxxxxxxxxxx:beer::beer::beer::j:money:

firstly, you need to ask the branch to deal with your complaint or if a complaint has already been logged then get them to send an email to the person dealing with the complaint to resolve it. Furthermore, if they have today still come back to you in the branch and effectively told you to ring the lending centre then I think the time has come to escalate it further so email: customer.relations@natwest.com
They WILL sort it out and mention the additional costs of phoning because it was not sorted out and no one called you to say it was resolved.

I went to the bank the day after my first post. The lady I spoke to, told me I had to ring them back again, because it was an issue over the telephone. Anyway, I thought sod it, and emailed them. No reply.

Just checked my online banking again, another interest charge of £0.65, then a charge of £28, on the 12th June . So thats 3 interest charges within 3 weeks, and a £28 charge on top.

I'm sat here now, thinking !!!!!! is going on. I feel like the whole Natwest company is against me right now. Everyone I speak to is lying to me, and telling me the wrong directions..........I feel lost.

Tomorrow i'm going back to the bank for the 3rd time. I'm going to ask for the man in charge, I don't care if I need an apointment. Fking ridiculous.

Nice to see NatWest branches taken responsibility for a complaint. You will get an acknowledgement from them. Make sure you update them with the latest charges and interest.

:D At last. It looks like the email did the trick. I recieved a reply explaining everything. Got everything back in my bank today.

Thanks for your advice. I just hope I don't recieve anymore charges again :T

You seem to be an expert in this field.......... I had a capital one credit card, and I know they charged me about £200 in charges in the period I had it, using £12 charges. Can I reclaim these back? Will it be easy? Thanks again
