Hi All,
It seems to me that employers can pretty much do what they want nowadays....you could be in a job for years, perfect attendance and punctuality then new management comes in , takes a disliking to you and shows you the door or you don't get on with the incrowd.
I have seen this happen in my company....god theres a post on our intranet at least once a week, Joe Bloggs has decided to leave the company and take up fly fishing. All these made up tails when you know fine rightly they have been stabbed in the back.
The company I work for has 3000 employess and no one is safe !!
Can anyone provide some hope?
Regards,
Stuart.

Here's some hope/random thoughts:-
Work somewhere like the Underground with a really strong union
If not
Become self-employed
Do something you enjoy rather than something for the money
Appreciate that in a lot of places it's not what you do but what people think you do and whether they like you. Concentrate on networking/being liked rather than getting the job done
However, show/publicise to the people where you add value to the business
Be flexible
Always agree with what the people in charge say (whether you agree with it or not) rather than disagree (this comes across as obstructive)
Remember most companies will attempt to sack you/pay you less even when times are good
Find somewhere where employees/people are truly valued0
