Edinburgh accomodation

Myself and one or two of my friends want to go to the edinburgh university open day on the 19th of june, but are looking for somewhere to stay in edinburgh the night before.

Does anyone know of any cheap accommodation... had a look around but all I can find is sort of £70 for a twin... and this is too much.

ANy suggestions, codes or offers would be very much appreciated

ta LJ

The authentic(ish) uni experience - stay in the halls!! single rooms are £20 for your dates (doubles are more expensive a £72)

Thankyou - we'll take this into consideration
We looked at others like this... but most will only take 18 year olds or above.

Taking into consideration train fares this could be a very expensive trip...

Have you actually asked the university itself? Sometimes when they have open days they offer discounted accommodation in their halls of residence.

You have maybe tried this but if you go to the University open day page it does have an option on the right hand side for accommodation.

The rate says it is £57 for a two people sharing. Sorry I would have posted the link but for some reason the site won't allow me to do this.

    Goodluck anyway :)

I know but the link I was trying to add was for the actual open day OP is attending, which says that there is discount for people attending the open day and gives a number to ring for more info - It is uni accommodation as you say :) This is what it says :

    University-owned accommodation

The University of Edinburgh is delighted to offer great value “family and friends” rates to visitors attending the University’s 2009 Open Days.
Bed and breakfast accommodation is available at Pollock Halls, a short 15 minute walk from George Square where most of the Open Day events take place.
The following options are available for June 2009:
    • Chancellor’s Court 3* campus twin, en-suite rooms (£57 for 2 people sharing).
    • Salisbury Green Hotel 3* newly refurbished 18th century mansion doubles (£84 for 2 people sharing).
    • All prices include breakfast.
    • For information and to book, please call 0131 651 2007/ 0131 651 2005 and quote ED09D.

Tee hee, cheeky mares - it's the same prices on the website, at least for Chancellors Court. Typical Edinburgh Uni (I'm a student there)

Either way it's probably one of the cheapest options and in the right part of town for OP.

I still can't believe they even charge as much as this for halls of residence. If the halls I was in at Stirling University are anything to go by they are little more than a prison cell with a bed and a sink :D

I suppose the unis have to make their money somehow but they can hardly class themselves as hotels. Anyway as you say definitely seems to be the cheapest option for Edinburgh.
