Then not I think a hard drive problem. I'm guessing the HD is OK, but it's recording a jumpy signal.
What is the TV reception like if you disconnect the Hummy and use it on analogue and then digital (to isolate each tuner in turn)? If both are OK then I'd say that the tuner is faulty on the Hummy. If not, I'd say it's a problem with your aerial or cable.
The acid test then is to take it round to a friend and set it up there. If the problem recurs on a different aerial and TV then it must be a tuner fault on the PVR.

My TV has Freeview built in so there is no analogue, when I plug the aeriel straight into the TV the picture is fine.

I'll try it in another TV at the weekend I think but I'll call Humanx before then to see what they say (have just tried but the lines are closed)

All Digital TV's have an analogue tuner too. But if pic fine on TV digital, it has to be a faulty tuner on the Hummy, or a faulty cable between TV and PVR (but you've tried swapping that).
No reason why this should work, but have you tried a complete reset on the Hummy and let it redetect all the channels? Nothing to lose. After that, you need to call them, as you've eliminated all the options really.

I tried to reset but it didn't help :(

So I called Humax today and explained the problems, they think I've just been unlucky. They have sent me a warranty form by email to fill out and email back with the reciept which I have and they will hopefully swap them tomorrow :) Great service! Fingers crossed my next one works!
