do i have any rights?

Hi,

i have been working for my current employer for about 1 1/2 years. I am worried about being made redundant as the secretary was told today that she is to reduce her hours from 5 days a week to 3 days a week.....just like that, with no warning.

Can my boss just turn around and reduce my hours or even tell me i dont have a job?

I am a joiner and there is 1 other joiner working in the factory. He is much more experienced than me so if anyone were to go, it would be me first.

Does my boss have to reduce hours equaly. Or is anyone for the chop at the drop of a hat!

I have to written contract either but am paying Tax and NI with weekly payslips so no worried there about being legitimate employee

Thanks for any help in advance
