Ive searched through these threads and one or two have said they've used this firm and they've been good, Theres a holiday im looking at which is £80 cheaper on there than anywhere else ive looked the trouble is when i typed 'greatlatedeals' in the search thread today on here, there was a post where somebody asked if they were any good and there were virtually no replies except somebody said they were owned by travelrepublic and they are being investigated for committing illegal act(s) (something to do with atol if i remember rightly) but i cannot find anything on internet, is this true as it does not sound good for whats supposedly a reputable company. I dont want to book and then find out my holiday no longer exists and my moneys gone etc.
Any advice would be appreciated.

It seems they are part of Travel Republic. Not had any experience but I've used TR with no issues and I know a lot of people here have used them.
There was an issue (it may still be ongoing) with ATOL, it came about from the XL failure. To cut a long story short, the TR website (they were by no means the only company involved or using the same methods) can give people the impression they are buying a package holiday, when in reality they are not they are buying a flight and a hotel booking which are separate.
Nothing wrong with this of course; but when XL collapsed and people lost flights, some websites would not refund the hotel booking falling back on the "separate booking nothing we can do" excuse.
Travel Republic, and I see greatlatedeals, introduced a "100% financial guarantee", I'm sure as part of an effort to appease the investigation that ensued. Sure you will be fine with the new guarantee, but I'd book on a credit card as well!0 -
Thanks for the reply, thats cleared a few things up thankfully.0

Just be aware - greatlatedeals do not include - in flight meals, transfers or luggage to the prices on their website.
I had a client recently looking for a holiday for a family of 5. She had a price from the website including accomodation and thomson flights which was £150 cheaper than the quote I gave her. When she proceeded to book she rang them to double check somthing and they advised her of the above and said this was standard on their website and if she wanted these extras she had to book through the call centre.
Additional charges added to the online quote were - £15x5 for in flight meals. £16x5 for checked luggage. £144x1 for return transfers
A grand total of £299 extra on the holiday cost.
Might be worth ringing them to double check everything is included that you think is included.0 -

Cheers Karena, that would be appreciated, im looking to book for the USA so i will phone to check prices for luggage etc (although i thought this would be included in the price anyway), the transfers is no big worry (ive seen the option to book this) id assume you would recieve a meal or 2 on a long haul flight but would clarify this also, let us know how your daughter gets on and hope she has a good holiday0

I wont be using these at the moment, I just need to save for approx 2 more weeks to see if ive definetly got the money, so obviously I take the risk of flights, hotels etc going up, the flight is approx £40 cheaper than anywhere else ive looked but now the hotel for 2 (it was to be a certain hotel as we were going to go with other people) has gone up almost £500 ! ! ! more than everywhere else, thats an outragous rise.0

I thought id pay the deposit but it seems you dont have the option to pay a deposit anymore, id have the money in approx 8 days, but it may go up by then, it seems to being going from bad to worse0
