Hi
Can someone tell me what exactly is an RO list? and how is different from normal sale items.
Have had some success with Argos getting the HP digital camera for £19.98 but also some failures when reserving Dect phones and Harry Potter playset and both had gone up when went in store to collect.
Thanks0 -
After much persuading, I managed to eyeball Argos' new RO list today ;) and found it fairly disappointing. Almost nothing appeared to be reduced by more than 50% :'(. and, of the very few items that interested me, better prices can be found elsewhere.
Sorry I was unable to get and post a copy but they were very reluctant to hand it over and watched me like a hawk while I perused it !
They told me that it was not actually "live" yet and wanted to know how I had found out about it !0 -

A BRIEF (I HOPE) HISTORY
Early Oct 04, when I wasn't addicted to this site, JonC posted a heads up regarding a clearance sale in Argos. Most items were 75% off catalogue prices and it wasn't the usual 'crud'- many people managed to get fantastic bargains such as camcorders for about £80, TFT monitors for £40 ish £200 ringy things for £49 etc.
These were all items on what's called an RO list-an Argos term for a stock clearance list. Stumpy then took on the unenviable task of collating all the info gathered from various sources, and it is her web-site of these lists I carry in my signature below.
They weren't available online, you had to use an old catalogue and ring and reserve or the instore checkers to discover these hidden 'jewels'.
As the sale progressed bargains were becoming more scarce and the people on this thread went to almost any lengths to help perfect strangers-it was truly heart warming reading about what people were prepared to do for each other for no personal gain, and I think its the selflessness shown on this thread which perhaps keeps it going. I certainly have a great fondness for my fellow argoseers.
The 'old' RO is pretty much obsolete now and we are all hoping the future RO lists/Argos sales provide as many bargains and as much fun as the last one.
HTH
and a VALIANT NEW YEAR
You can spend your time alone re digesting past regrets,
Or you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can forgive yourself.
Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

To Valiant23
Thanks very much for that. It's all becoming clearer now!
I will have to have a practice with the old lists to get the hang of it as the new one sounds iminent.
Have to agree that I have found most of the posters on this site very helpful and would willingly assist another MSE member if the oppurtunity arises.
Happy New Year0 -
Just wondering if anyone here could help me get a hold of an O2 Samsung E600 (cat no 547/8819)?
I've been trying to get one for over a week now with no luck (I posted in the other Argos thread, but it doesn't seem like anyone reads it anymore... :-/ )
I thought I'd managed to arrange one about 4-5 days ago, but I've not heard anymore about it so I guess it's fallen through.
The worst thing is when I was orginally looking I managed to reserve some in a lot of different stores, but since I thought I'd manage to get one I let the them go & now I can't find any anywhere!
Anyway, if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it, but I'll say thanks for trying just now in case you have as much luck as I've had...Nice to save.0 -
You can get them for home delivery on the argos website.

Argos is claiming something is half price when it isn't, I have checked catalogue price, web price & ring & reserve.
http://makeashorterlink.com/?Y1812352A
Is there anything I can do to actually get it half price.
PS I can remember someone on a thread a while back showing how to ring R&R avoiding 0870, can anyone let me know how to do this? saynoto0870 only gives an ireland landline number.Next year we'll be millionaires!0 -
valiant23 has a link at the bottom of his post on page 5 which tells how to avoid the 0870.to Argos
