Mobile Phones Tenerife

I spend a lot of time in tenerife and have a land line there which is costing me £20 a month before I use it and for 7 months of the year I am not there. I do have a spanish pay as you go mobile and an english pay as you go sim which I use in the same mobile. So I am looking at £140 per annum line rental plus pay as you go mobiles and I am sure that I can get either an english contract or a spanish one which would be more economic. Has anyone any suggestions on how to save veijoverde some Euros and Pounds?

A UK contract phone in Spain is going to cost you muchos Euros in roaming charges if you use it for local calls or to call the UK. Surely best to use a Spanish one. But if you are only there 5 months in 12, you'll pay for a lot of unused airtime-surely cheaper to stay on PAYG-and ditch the landline.
Impossible to say more without knowing the pattern of your calls made while there.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Many thanks macman these are the lines that I was thinking along. I have already cancelled the landline and at present I am with Movistar PAYG out there. I will have a good sift around when next out there to see if there is a better deal going. I am sure I will find things a lot cheaper.

  • Its not the "people" that worry me its what my children would do to me on my return to the UK.
I will check out O2 though - thank you very much.
