Hi
I put an offer in on a flat in Aberdeen this morning but it was rejected as there are five other parties who noted an interest and presumably the seller is holding out for more money. There's actually another flat, practically the same, on sale in the same building at a fixed price of £142k. I've always disregarded it because I don't want to spend that much. It's been on the market since Nov 2008 and I was thinking of offering them what I offered on the other flat (£130k), even though it's less than the fixed price. I know none of you are psychic but do you think that's worth a try or do you think it's waste of time? I personally think the flat is over-priced as it is now and I'm hoping the sellers are desperate to sell and recognise the fact that their flat won't be valued at the £142k value.
With that in mind, if they accepted do you think they'd wait four weeks for me to return from a work trip just because a buyer who can't move too quickly is better than no buyer at all? Like I said, I know none of you are psychic and the only way I'll know for sure is to try but I'm just wondering if this is a pipe dream or if there are people out there who would actually consider this kind of thing...
Thanks

xx Park Road, Aberdeen - gazumped over a measly £3k (hope it was worth it) - May.
xx Castle Terrace, Aberdeen - offer rejected - June. Went to closing but I was away with work and missed it.
Flat actually sold for £5k less than I had offered - suckers!

If they want to sell it, they might accept it. If you don't ask, you won't know.0

Supposedly. Apparently the seller can go with a different offer but only if they ditch their original solicitor. If they don't, the solicitor can be charged with professional misconduct. Unfortunately in my case, they did ditch their solicitor and apparently that means I have to just accept it quietly. I think I was just unlucky to have such horrible sellers!xx Park Road, Aberdeen - gazumped over a measly £3k (hope it was worth it) - May.
