Delayed emails - please help

Does anyone know why a lot of my emails are delayed? Some of them come through an hour or so later and it is happening more and more, why?

At work, I'm on the same cable network as at home, even on the same UBR - and one day I sent myself from work an email to home about an hour before I left work. I got home and it still hadn't arrived - it turned up six hours later. Exceptional, but delays happen.0 -
I'm with BT and I know that some messages are delayed but it seems to happen more and more, I just wondered if it had something to do with BT or some set up.0
