Contents insurance

I have been putting off getting contents insurance since I moved, but now really need to sort it out!
I will probably speak to Direct Line first as I have my car insurance through them, so they may be able to do a 'deal'.
My main question is roughly how much should I be looking to pay for this? I know they all try and beat each other, but having a rough idea what to expect would be good.
Also, I did once try and get a quote online and the first question asked was the age of the building which I don't know. Of course I can find this out, but are there any other questions they need to know answers to that are 'out of the ordinary'?
Thanks for any help

I did look at that, but it doesn't really answer my question, hence the post.
I was hoping someone could give me a rough idea of what to expect. Without knowing that I really have no idea if i'm being ripped off by anyone.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Get a couple of quotes (do it online as it is quicker) then compare what cover is included in each before deciding which has the better value (cheapest policy is not always the best value for money).0

Best bet is to use a comparison site then you will get a range of quotes, if they are similar then you are not being ripped off.
Actual quote will depend on a number of factors like the amount you want to insure and postcode, burglar alarm etc.0
