Offers you've noticed in-store

I don't know if anything's ever been posted like this but the other day I was walking around Co-Op and I saw some of their offers and I thought, "Wow, I wish I could tell people at MSE." So I thought, why not post a thread doing just that?
My idea is that, if you see a great bargain in your supermarket, then you post it here. You don't have to say what area supermarket you saw it in, as I guess all the big chains would have similar offers, thus retaining your privacy.
An example would be:
"I saw that Co-Op has bogof on lager."
What do you think?
This is the oddest post i've seen in a long time. Surely what you are suggesting is the whole point of MSE in general and the Food shopping and Groceries forum in particular!0 -
Tesco has Bold liquid gel (tha massive one) for £4. The one half the size of that is £4.69.
Scottish Coop has 2 for £3 on the big Heinz 'top-down' tomato ketchup and 2 for £2 on flora buttery.

Ben84 - it may vary in regions, but my Co-op website only covers the 'big' deals by having the pdf of their big instore flyer. Whilst admittedly it does show the mini chedders I mentioned, it doesn't cover every deal like the other big stores sites do. It's also not always updated promptly, and sometimes miss the smaller single-page flyers out completely.
One that's not on the Co-ops flyer - 100g of fairtrade milk chocolate for 49p (was 97p - scans at 49p even if the SEL hasn't been updated) just because it's in a pink cardboard sleeve (old mother's day stock, but dated to end of year, with no noticeable mention of the event on the packaging), whereas the normally packaged 150g FT is £1.07 (71p/100g).DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Yes, of course that is the point of MSE, but I was unsure if there was a place where you could just highlight a great buy you'd found to other people on a specific thread.
Like I said in my original post, it was just an idea. And, afterall, hasn't MSE made a point of encouraging us all to think harder about ways to save money and share an idea we think might help if we do?
Obviously if it doesn't work, there's no harm. But if it DOES give someone an idea they may not have spotted elsewhere, then more to power to them!May Wins: 2 x Beauty Brilliance Multipurpose Highlighter Sticks in pink and gold, Cellulite buster cream, Garnier eye roll-on stuff and James Brown Hair Mask.

The big four supermarkets, Sainsbury, Tesco, Asda and Waitrose, as well as Co-Op list all their current offers on their respective web sites in detail, so I would always advise using them as the best source.
You may have to go in to their online shopping sections, but the offers are the same as in store. You can do various things like search for products or browse categories, and they all list their offers clearly. You'll also find details on how long the offer is running.
However, there are some very good offers in other stores that don't seem to advertise their offers anywhere. M&S foodhall, as well as some smaller chains of convenience stores. I think it would be most useful if we could fill in the blanks on these rather than cover the stores that already list their offers online. Maybe even have threads for each store?
AFAIK Sainsburys are the only ones who actually have the same deals instore and online.
Tesco's are gits for having the best offers only for online shoppers - and they don't honour them instoreSo if there's one there, don't just asume if shopping from a pre-made online shopping list that they're the same price as you may pay more than you think
Not too sure about Asda, I think they're the same as Tesco but it's worth questioning.0 -
Sainsbury - Ariel biological 50 wash - big box - £7.03. Usually £8 to £10 or more.
Duracell batteries D and C size - 4 pack - 99p - not an offer just mega cheap if you can find them in your store, probably a discontinued pack or something, several left in Folkestone central. Other sizes were usual prices.0 -
