Wireless Router getting old!

Ive had my Belkin wireless router for 4 years now and its getting harder and harder to log on each time. normal house but with loft conversion, router is in lounge on ground floor. I'm in the loft and struggle 8 out of 10 times to connect, which means running down 2 fights to turn it off and back on again, is this due to the age of it? When I click to view available networks, it always comes up top of the list (I'm mid terrace and pick up 4 or 5 security enabled ones) with full signal, but struggles most times to connect
Getting quite frustrating now, am wondering has technology come on much and would it be worth investing in a new router? If so, any recommendations on a good one?
Many thanks in advance

The Linksys WRT160N Router is fab! Very very very good range on it, would highly recommend it.
Any D-Link and Linksys in the Wireless N range will be fine0 -
Check to see if there is a firmware update for the router as this may fixed the issue, bit pointless spending money if you don't have to. Oh and if there is an update do it whilst connected to the router via a network cable and not wirelessly.0
