Price increase, HELP NEEDED!!

Options
Hi,

Not sure if anyone can help but i bought a brand new car yesterday with suziki as part of the scrappage scheme, I asked to pick it up at a later date, anyway they have phoned again saying there has been a price increase of £500 unless i pick the car up in a few days even thought i signed yesterday confirming the amount of the car. Do they have the right to charge me more money even though i have already agreed the price???:mad:
Any help would be great!!

Thanks

  • Its likely due to a manufacturer increase on a defined date.

Is there a reason you cant pick it up to avoid the increase.

You can probably cancel, but you cant force them to supply at that price.

Price increases are not normally retrospective.

However i would suggest you read the terms and condition on the back of your order form.

Most big firm will have some sort clause where they can request you (usually in writting) to collect/pay for the car within 7days. It will normally outline the position of your deposit too.

Alternatively they could just give you your deposit back and call it quits. Technically you could sue for damages but whether its worth it and what you'd actually sue for is another question.

Either way they probably can't force you to pick the car up earlier / make you pay a higher price.

What is the delivery date on the order form?

Manufacturer's price changes or discounts are usually based on when the vehicle is first registered. As long as the vehicle is registered in time, the dealer should be able to hold the price. (assuming you've paid for it too)

However, space costs money and the dealer may not be happy providing you with a free garaging service.
Check the terms of your contract regarding storage charges. Why can't you collect the vehicle "in a few days" anyway?
