Unable to do balance transfer to Asda credit card

I applied on line for an Asda credit card ok I know it is not the best on the market but it gives you 9 months 0% on balance transfers and I have under £600 on a Lloyds TSB trustcard worked out the maths and thought yes I can clear of the debt in 9 months great and then begin to use the card for my shopping to gain points for vouchers for Christmas shopping for next year long term plan I know but here is the good bit (hint of sarcasm) came home from work today to find my card had arrived phoned up straight away to activate the card with all my info to do the balance transfer etc to be told that they do not do balance transfers with anything to do with Lloyds TSB as they are not on the banking list the Asda credit card is provided by Santander. This has really got me angry usually I would just say 'ok one of those things' but its really got me going.
Has any one else out there had any experience like this either with the same card or another one?

    Hi

Was this your only time of asking, or have you asked other advizors, who have told you the same thing?
Surely, a balance transfer is exactly as it says, and Lloyds being one of the top 5 UK banks, you would think that Asda would have the good sense to recognize this.
They should make it clear in their Ts and Cs if there are exceptions to balance transfers, ie they could stipulate that they do not deal with certain financial organizations, and list them, that way you would know where you stood, but to tell you after receiving the card is a bad practice on their part.
My advice would be, get rid of the card and switch your balance to another lender, ie Nationwide offer their classic card at 0% for 13mths, and 0% for 3mths on new purchases, or if you prefer to keep loyal to places you know, and have another brand of supermarket you enjoy, ie Tesco or Markies for example, get one of their cards, and switch to them. Asda don't dezerve your custom, so it's their loss, not yours. There are many options open to you, and I wish you success in your findings, to something that is more suited to your requirements.
