A few years ago my scottish power meter stopped recording how much electricity I was using, I was estimated bills and never noticed that it wasnt right.

After a few months I complained and I got a replacement meter and all my money refunded for the last month which was around £170 as they had no idea of how much electricty i was using.

All was well for around a year and I now pay direct debit and have switched to online billing...so I logged into my account and Im showing £220 in credit!!!

The same thing has happened again! The meter is not recording!
Im sooo tempted to ask for the money but what I wanna know is at some point I will have to report the meter but will I have to pay the £200 odd back?

They will base the bills on past history and/or future consumption on a new meter, You need to contact them ASAP.

I would report it to Scottish power ASAP, the next time a meter reader comes round and checks the meter it will be spotted. Two meters in a row not working will get alarm bells ringing and they may suspect you of tampering.
