You need to convert them to DVD format first, not just copy onto a DVD. Once you've done that, most DVD players willl read them (I assume you're talking about a DVD player linked to a TV).No free lunch, and no free laptop

Any DVD player will do. You can pick a cheap one up in Asda for about £6 I think. You will need to convert the files to DVD format though but you can use free software such as DVD Flick for this. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

Can i convert them while burning, using media player? or is DVD Flick a better programme to use?
Thanks guys0 -
Unfortunately, Windows Media Player doesn't burn DVDs in the correct format to be played on a DVD player, thus bringing the need to use specialist software such as DVD Flick which I have personally used and can say it is very good. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

You need a dvd player that plays divx - asda do an Onn brand one for 24-30 quid.
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139176 is another one - I have a philips dvp5990 about £60 , it it noticeably better than the Onn i have.
One nice feature on them is the USB input so you transfer a movie to pen drive ,shove it in the player and watch on TV.
There are sometimes audio synch issues with cheaper players.
Otherwise just burn upto 6 avi's to a disc (data) shove that in and decide which one to watch!!0 -
Yep, free donwload.
B.T.W just to save on confusion, if you convert the files using DVD Flick, you do not need a Divx player, a normal DVD Player will do fine. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

you might consider a model like this one http://www.svp.co.uk/home-and-leisure/dvd-tv-home-cinema/dvd-players/umax-yamada-dvd-7500x-divx-dvd-player-and-cd-ripper-umax025_boxed-retail-unit.html
you can then watch the films without converting them to dvd format, not as cheap as the supermarket ones, but you dont have the hassle of buying and burning disks. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.0 -
