Printer colour match

I have an epson c84 on which the colours printed from a photo are quite a bit darker than the picture on the screen. I know I can change the brightness/lightness of each photo but I would rather get all the prints to match. Is there a program around which can help me to 'tune' the printer to the computer? I currently use the epson defaults..

  • Not familiar with this particular printer, but most have a number of different colour management options. The default is usually to have the printer match what you see on the screen. Have a fiddle with the settings and/or the help file to see if you have the option to change the default colour management setting.

Colour calibration is a nightmare. It depends on so many factors...

    e.g.

Individual's colour perception (we all see colours differently).
    Type of paper being used.
Types of inks being used (have to be particularly careful with refilled cartidges).
The lighting at the time (daylight, bulbs, striplights or combination).

I know the newer versions of windows do support colour profiles which is supposed to make it easier to set your monitor up so it looks more like the print output.
