i work freelance and am looking to get some cheap and simple business cards made up... anyone got any ideas?
someone has suggested moo.com, which seems pretty good and they'll send out a branded 10 pack sample of your card for free so you can see how it'll look before you buy....
would love other people's thoughts on this... anyone used anywhere great? what's a good price and how many should i be getting etc?
thanks all

It depends on your budget. With printing there is pretty much something to suit all tastes. You do pay for what you get though.
One of the cheapest is vistaprint. You can even get free cards - they always have promotions - you just pay for delivery (which is snail mail). The paper quality is not brilliant, but if you are not fussed then it's worth looking at. I also find the business card sizes are not standard UK, but again not a huge deal.
Apart from that you only need to Google for company stationery and you will get plenty of hits. I would say paying around 150-175 (inclusive of VAT) is a fair price to pay for good quality card stock and paper - this would include, business cards, comp slips and letterheads.
I always recommend to clients (when budget allows) to go for 400gsm or 350gsm minimum as a card stock for the business cards and if possible matt laminated will give it a lovely smooth feel.
Don't forget to design for both sides of the card and make good use of the space. Most printer costs will include full colour CMYK printing on both sides.
Hope this helps.0 -

Whatever you do don't be tempted to buy those sheets and print your own. I used to come across those regularly and they left me with a bad taste about those that used them. As others say use thick card, full colour and printed both sides.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. I would second the 'vistaprint' option, but be careful when paying by credit or debit card. They did have a thing where you were automaticaly entered into a monthly subscription.
However I have just placed my second order with them for cards, letterheads and envelopes for the company. For what I have had I think the price was reasonable. But beware that they do make extra charges for quicker deliveries which seem a little high but again .... you get what you pay for. One of the benefits are that you can go back in 6 months time and just re-order the same design again without the hard work.
Might I also suggest that you take some time and have a look through some other designs they offer other than the standard ones they provide.0
