PPI - Gesture of goodwill - should i accept?

I have a joint loan with my husband, and was sold a PPI policy in my name only (we only found out when my husband was made redundant last year that it was not valid for him) We Put in a complaint and have been offered a full refund which is a substantial amount but their letter says they are only offering it as a goodwill gesture. I am happy at the result, but angry that they have not accepted responsibility. My husband wants to take the money and run, I feel the need to persue it and at least get an apology if not some compensation - after all they are only giving back what they owe. has anyone had a similar experience and fought back with good or bad results???

who is the loan with and what was the original ppi total and the monthly payment for the ppi and over how many years?
