Top Marks to nPower

I used to have an economy 7 tariff and thanks to this site realised that it was pointless as I did not have storage heaters. So I got nPower to change it to a non econ 7 tariff. I have just called them and explained that now my elecy is effectively half the price I was paying could they re adjust the direct debit (they have the accurate meter reading now from when it was changed 30 days ago). The very helpful lady on the phone must have been able to see the new estimate because she immediately said I will reduce your direct debit from 110GBP per month to 39GBP.

So folks if you have had one of these estimated usage direct debits from nPower that cause a massive increase in the monthly DD try and get a meter reading done give nPower 30 days for it to hit thier system and give them a call.

If they reduce your Direct Debit to £1 a month - it doesn't alter the price of the electricity you will eventually have to pay for.

That is not the point I am making. I got hacked off with nPower becuase they used their estimate of my Elecy useage to justify doubling the direct debit, by estimating that my elecy consumption had suddenely doubled from the previous year.

I was expecting a battle with nPower to get the DD back to normal (I was always getting refunds paying the previous ammount).

My point was that once they had the actual meter reading they did not even quibble they just said yep will reduce from 110GBP per month to 39GBP. I was expecting lots of ifs and buts from them.

I have no problem paying for the elecy I use. I do have a big problem with nPower thinking they can have my money on deposit and not pay me any interest for the privelege.
