Abbey/halifax have lost my money

Got a letter from Abbey saying they had closed my ISA account and transferred the fund by cheque to Halifax on 27th May. No sign of it yet in my new ISA account with Halifax. The reason i am concerned that i did my husbands and mine on the same day and his is sitting nicely in his account and mine is nowhere to be seen. Halifax say no to worry, its not unusual for one to be delayed. Abbey say 'they will look into it' I feel i am bangingmy head against a brick wall.
Is this usual.

It could just be genuine delay, and if it ends up taking a ridiculous amount of time I would imagine Halifax back dating the lost interest. Cheques are antiquated and by no means the quickest means of transferring money between banks, so you're going to have to be a little more patient.
When I say patient, I don't mean forget about it for two weeks, I would keep at both Halifax and Abbey to find out where the money is. However I would not bang your head against any brick walls just yet, as in the worst case, the cheque is lost, and Abbey have to issue Halifax a new one, and, like I said before, they will most likely back date the interest (you may have to make a complaint).Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
Don't worry it can take up to 30 days. I also transferred out from Abbey, they do tend to not tell you what is going on.0

I transferred from NS&I to Halifax and it took for ever! NS&I said they'd sent it but Halifax couldn't find it. Just as NS&I were going to reissue the cheque, it appeared on my Halifax online banking backdated by about a week.
Please don't worry - if you don't have Halifax online banking, just phone them each day and see if the new ISA has been set up.

thanks for all your help everyone. if it had just been my ISA alone i probably wouldnt have thought about it twice, it was the OH's going through so quickly that got me going. I bank online so i will keep a daily check.
Thanks againmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Similar thing happened regarding OH's and my Nationwide ISA transfers last year. OH's transfer was dealt with speedily while mine was delayed for a further month.
Good luck.0 -
Rang Abbey again last night and they rang me back today to say that they are going to stop the cheque and issue another one.
Like another poster said the original one will probably pop up on my account tomorrow.
Thanks guys.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

After Abbey transferred my ISA to Lloyds about a year ago, queried why they hadn't issued a closing statement, (of interest earned etc. ). Immediately admitted they should have and said they would send it right away, just as soon as he had photocopied the one he was looking at .
Well about 1 year later, still nothing...
Sour grapes, or indifference or What.
Abbey certainly know how to talk to customers... but doing what they say, that's another matter.0
