hi
on behalve of a friend i was wondering if i could get some advice.
my friend has been told he is being made redundent but he has been told he either applys for the job that they r producing which is only for 1 person and includes all parts of the 4 people's jobs (there r 4 people in the company doing similar work and so all 4 have been told the same) or he takes voluntary redundency.
if he takes voluntary redundency then his insurnce wont pay towards his bills and mortgage etc
can they do this?
thanx in advance for any advice

It is not voluntary redundancy, his job has gone and been replace with a new position. But yes they can do this if they follow procedure.
Start with Direct gov.com http://www.direct.gov.uk and look under employement.
Then if you have any questions regarding his employers actions contact ACAS for advice
