Hoping someone can help, do you own a campervan/motorhome I could rent, or give any recommendations for company's to use to

I am going to T in the Park this year, first time ever.....I have a bladder condition that means I need regular and sometimes immediate access to toilet facilities and sometimes due to pain in my legs and back I have difficulty walking long distance.

After speaking to the special needs people organising the event, I found out that I could get access to platforms near the stages that have their own toilets (apparently, bit unsure of this) I also put in a request to the campsite to bring a motorhome as I could never manage the camping, problem is the ones I have looked at are V V expensive and I really can't afford it so I am worried I will not get and lose out the money I paid for the tickets

I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something that sleeps two people and of course the most important thing is that it has a toliet

Also has anyone been and been on these platforms or seen them, I am really worried about this now, kinda got caught in the moment and booked tickets as I was soo excited that I would be able to go, I've never been to anything like this because of my condition. I was told that i would receive info in the post but have nothing as yet

Thanks

  • They sell exceptional equipment at TITP that allow women to take a pee like a man. Then you can just go and !!!! against the fence like everyone else from Glasgow does. You dont even need the kit as those classy weegie birds dont seem to mind squattting in front of everyone either.

Your info will probably arrive with your tickets which are not sent out til a week or two weeks before.

As a veteran of t in the park, we all have problems with the queues for the toilet. I have never braved using a pee-mate but have jumped the queue cos I was so desperate!! Take your own loo roll and hand gel.

The platforms are for disabled people with wheelchairs and mobility problems. They are situated at the main stage and in one or two of the larger tents. take a camping fold up chair, I do. I get very sore legs and back but its part of the festival experience. T in the Park at Balado is a very big site compared to when it was at Strathclyde park, you will have alot of walking from stage to stage with a large volume of people to negotiate round. Also if you are in the campsite there is a wee bit of walking from there to the arena.

I'm sure if your medical complaint is genuine and you have a proper letter from your GP then you find that DF Concerts will do what they can manage to accommodate you at their festival, like many others. Have a great time, see you there!

    Thanks guys

I will have a stick with me to help with the walking, and i am definitely going to invest in a fold up chair (thingy)

You can pick up folding chairs for a couple of quid, I got mine reduced in Morrisons last year but loads of stores sell them. Get your chair sooner rather than later as they all seem to vanish around festival time! Pac a mac as well, sun lotion, you never know what the weather will be like!

If you are looking for really nice food at the festival head for the healthy T area in the arena, you can get some great food like porridge, proper burgers not those horrible frozen things from the burger vans nearer the stages, punnets of strawberries, stovies. Well worth waiting in a queue for.

I was thinking that if you do get caught short you could perhaps find the nearest first aid tent and ask to use their toilets, I'm sure they'd oblige, they are very helpful.

Did you find any more out about hiring a campervan? If you actually camp in your tent you have to carry everything from your car, a fair distance. At least in a campervan you wouldn't have to do this. You will have a wristband put on once you get in the campsite so you can go in and out but you must use the campsite entrance to get into the arena, you can't go in using the normal entrance with a camping wristband/ticket. I've seen loads of people try and they get very angry but it makes sense as so many people just come along for one day or don't stay onsite, it makes for people getting onto the site quicker.

    Hope this helps.

    Can't wait for this year!

A campervan would be easier for you as you don't have to carry everything in and out which is pretty strenuous, though from what I remember the part of the campsite dedicated to campervans is actually pretty far from the entrance to the campsite. So you'd need to weigh up the daily walk vs the carrying.

Queues for the toilets tend to be pretty bad in the campsite especially in the evenings. Though in the main arena they aren't too bad, just at "peak times" - when main acts finish etc.

You'll get a fold up chair in Tesco for not much more than a fiver (complete with cupholder, woo!). Thats where we get ours.

Like Bubblegumcola said, you should get info through from DF when you get your tickets.

As an alternative, this lot do pre-erected tents, with private toilet and shower facilities alongside.

Also be aware that if taking a van there, you might get caught-up in some pretty heavy traffic, with very long delays. Pals were stuck on the motorway for several hours last year, although there have been promises of improvents for this year.

Personally tho, I don't trust them and would be inclined to try and approach the site along the a-road from Kincardine rather than the motorway.

Here we go - working PC now:

    T-specific page:

Also worth considering some of the other festivals in Scotland/North for the future. Many of which are much more camper/disabled friendly than TITP. Belladrum for example, where the campervan area is adjacent to the festival site.

    :)

I think two years ago the traffic was particularly bad due to a combination of heavy rain, waterlogged car parks and increased security checks due to the terrorist attack at Glasgow airport which had only happened a couple of weeks before.

The traffic can be bad especially round Kincardine/Grangemouth area on a Friday afternoon to get over there, two years ago we were stuck in a jam for hours on the slip road to Kincardine. Once past there it wasn't too bad though. The roads have been upgraded and improved over that way now with a new bridge so you don't even have to go through Kincardine so it should be better this year. They do try and keep you to main roads but if you know the roads near Kinross you can sneak about a few of the quieter roads, except for those directly around the site at Balado where they only let residents drive into them. With the festival starting earlier and earlier every year now, you can get into the campsite on Thursday now if you have paid the upgrade so traffic may be abit lighter as it will be spread over the Thursday, Friday, and many only come for one day only on Sat or Sun. They do try to recommend public transport, the bus service seems to works well. last year I took the back roads from Perth which obviously slowed me down as its a very winding road through the glen but it was fine, the motorway was quiet by the looks of it! If you know the roads use local ones but if not stick to the main ones, probably easier for you and you won't get lost!
