Just a question on signing off (leaving) JSA and the P45 for new job.

Hi, I signed off JSA today and I start my new job next Monday. My new employers require a p45 or a p46 asap so that I can get paid this month. The JSA asvisor told me it will take 10 days for it to arrive. But I really need to send something now to my new employers so that I can get paid this month. Should I send a p46 instead and will that take care of it? I dont want to be put on emergency tax for too long. will the tax office et the tax information for the period i've been claiming (5 months now) and also the relevant tax info from my last employer from the p46?

Or should I send the p46 then the p45 when I get it?

many thanks

    Just a side question.

My p45 which I am due to recieve from the Job Seekers allowance team is to arrive in 10 days. Should I send the p45 after I have signed and sent the P46? Also the P45 from the job seekers will mainly show income reveived from job seekers allowance, I have already told my new employers in the application that I was receiving jsa as I was not employed but still I am worried about sending my p45.

If I only send my p46 will the tax office be able to work out that I was on JSA etc and sort out my code by themselves without the need for me to send my p45 after my p46 at a later date?

Sorry but I'm worried and dont want to mess up. Sorry for being a pain.

Give your new employers a completed P46. They will pay you on emergency tax code. As soon as you get your P45 give this to your new employer and they will input the details from there and you will be on the correct code. It doesn't matter that it is JSA income.
Your P45 will only show any income received from the 6th April this year.
